One Response to “Living La Liga: Messi is the Best Player in Europe”

Jamie Harris August 31, 2011

There can be no doubt Lionel Messi has lit up the soccer stage since his arrival in La Liga. Not only has he produced dazzling displays for his club Barcelona in the Spanish League but he has also terrorised some of the biggest club’s across Europe.

I must admit when I first saw Messi play I thought his small frame would be a problem, especially when he came across some of the more physical teams in European football.
Unlike the Spanish League, the English Premier League has a real physical aspect to it and I simply thought Messi would not be as much of a threat as he has been.

I certainly agree that Lionel Messi deserves the accolade of the World’s best football player but he is playing in a team that is undoubtedly the best in the world. He has players around him, the likes of Xavi, Iniesta and Fabregas who are possibly the best midfielders in the world and who can see a pass that no other player can. Their vision and timing are truely exquisite.

So my point is this, Messi gets the best service out of any other player in world football. Yes he has a ridiculous amount of skill and is a talent but would he reach the same level and receive the same amount of plaudits playing for a lesser team?
